Prince George’s County Councilmember At-Large Calvin Hawkins is arguably one of the most popular elected officials in the DMV.

One of the most powerful individuals in county politics, Hawkins has become the go-to-guy when you want to get something done. He also has been a bridge between competing political interests and is well known for bringing people of varying interests together on several highly volatile and sensitive issues.

Unlike many elected officials, he understands the challenges of growing up without a silver spoon, but with dreams and aspirations of doing something greater and being something greater. He has spent more than 32 years cultivating relationships and working on a diverse number of issues that impact the community.

Calvin Hawkins also likes to remind constituents that first and foremost he is a citizen’s advocate with a heart for the underdog, racial equality and financial equity.

Team Hawkins, it’s that time of year again—September! And you know what that means? Labor Day, of course! And with Labor Day comes the Greenbelt Labor Day Parade, the biggest shindig in Prince George’s County.

Meeting space at the I-Hop in the Greenway Shopping Center, 7405 Greenbelt Road, Greenbelt, MD 20770. For those craving a pre-parade feast (courtesy of the campaign, no less), swing by I-Hop between 7:00 AM and 7:30 AM. And hey, we’ll even shuttle you over to our parade position starting at 8:30 AM. So, get ready to strut your stuff and wave those banners—it’s parade time!

During his tenure as chair, the Council addressed matters impacting education, public safety, economic development, and numerous other important issues impacting Prince George’s County. Under his leadership the Council passed legislation addressing health and human services issues, funding for emergency rental assistance, small businesses grants, and funding for food disparities.
